# Quick start

Put your first Sylvera Rating in a cell, then fill a whole column

This walk-through assumes you've [installed the add-in and signed in](/excel-add-in/install-and-sign-in.md).

## 1. Look up one project

1. On the **Sylvera** tab, select **Find project**.
2. In the pane, search by name ("Kasigau") or by registry and ID ("VCS 612").
3. Select a result to preview its Rating, latest price, and 30-day price trend.
4. Tick the fields you want, for example **Name**, **Rating**, and **Latest price**.
5. Select a cell in your sheet, then **Insert**.

The add-in writes one formula, such as:

```
=SYL.DATA("Name,Rating,Latest price,Vintage","VCS","612")
```

Each field fills its own cell to the right. Latest price is followed by a Vintage column, so you can see which vintage the price is for.

## 2. Add Ratings to your own list

Most portfolios already list projects by registry and ID. You can add Sylvera data beside them without writing a formula.

| Registry | Project ID |
| -------- | ---------- |
| VCS      | 1477       |
| VCS      | 2250       |
| GS       | 12003      |

1. Select the **Registry** and **Project ID** cells, with or without the header row.
2. On the **Sylvera** tab, select **Add columns → Rating**.

A **Rating** column appears in the first empty column to the right, so existing data is never overwritten. Use **Add columns → More fields…** to pick any other field.

{% hint style="info" %}
**One column or two?** A single column of combined cells such as "VCS 1477" also works. If you select a third column of vintage years, price fields use that vintage on each row.
{% endhint %}

## 3. Keep it current

Values update when Excel recalculates. To refresh now, select **Refresh all**, or **Refresh selection** for the cells you've selected.

To send a workbook to someone without access, select **Freeze values** first. This replaces Sylvera formulas on the sheet with their current values.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.sylvera.com/excel-add-in/quick-start.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
